Love the food here. You don't get better hot dogs. And the nachos....there's just something about them, they're delicious. The folks working in there are very nice people. I got a large drink, it was bigger than any large drink I'd ever had! Over the years the food has stayed the same, and I plan to stop here for a bite to eat every chance I get. I wish they had indoor seating, but I won't sweat it if I'm getting food this good.

I really feel guilty giving a mom & pop joint a bad review because I really like to see them do well. However, I've just witnessed too many disgusting things at this place. For one, a co- worker of mine ordered a hot dog once and when they pulled it out of the water it was white! Makes you wonder how long they've been in there. You know a small place like this can't afford to throw away food so they probably keep things longer than they should. Then there was the time I ordered a chili with onions and in the process of putting onions in my chili, the older woman that works here spilled some of them on the counter. Instead of disposing of the onions, she sweeps them into her hand and flicks them back into the container! Disgusting! However, what really disgusts me is the fact that this same woman makes food (without gloves mind you) and collects money without ever washing her hands! That is just totally unsanitary. Especially nowadays hearing about Ebola and such things. I do like the chili at this place but like I said earlier, I'm just too disgusted to go back.

Worth getting off the toll road for...tasty hot dogs and tasty generous toppings. We both had the chili cheese dogs and my husband also had the italian beef. No place to sit but in your car when it's cold, but a nice change from the chain restaurants. Map showed it south of 80, but it's just north.

Boz's Hot Dogs is the sort of place my grandpa, and probably yours, called a joint. It's a mid-century style drive up, with a counter and take away food. You can eat outside on picnic tables, enjoy in your car as many do, or head back to work. You'll see a bunch of white pickup trucks and vans in the lot, a sure sign this place is popular with the trades. Like people that follow cop eats, I'm confident I can get a satisfyingly honest, no-frills blue collar meal at any place like this. Boz's (really, it's not Bozo?!) has a Chicago dog just as described, larger and softer than the standard issue Vienna. I can imagine if you grew up on these, there's nothing else like it. No fries, chips. Hey, that sounds familiar! Another throw back. This place keeps getting better... good enough that I went back again the next day. I asked the fella behind the counter what his favorite was. He recommended a chili dog. Not one to argue, I enjoyed it outside and was glad I asked. Although they had a steady stream of customers, I enjoyed talking to the couple behind the counter. Older, I'm guessing it was mother and son and original owners. They've been here in the same spot selling hot dogs to generations. They were happy to talk. Seen a lot of changes, they told me... I know they have. But when everyone else turned their back on Harvey and fled, Boz stuck around and kept serving hot dogs. I have a lot of respect for that. I'm not above judging a community on the strengths of their hot dogs, and for someone to continue on for as long as they have, I'm happy to stop whenever I'm headed down Dixie Highway. 3 star dogs, but 4 stars for character.

This one's the original location; it's a tiny little place with the cool 1950s inverted roof, in a marginally shitty neighborhood that is Harvey, bordering Homewood. I've always loved Boz's (formerly Bozo's), I used to hit those in Steger and Frankfort (both now gone). Their dogs are pretty much classic Chicago-style, except they're not as 'snappy' (they're more soft) and they're a little bigger. Boz's offers the FULL amount of proper toppings (tomato, cucumber, pickle, sport peppers, celery salt, I think even saurkraut if you want), and don't have a snit if you ask for ketchup. I'm over the ketchup-nazi shit. They also offer a nice, pasty chili and either liquid or regular ol' American cheese if you want a chili-cheese dog (my favorite). Served on correct poppy-seed buns. PERFECT. Other selections on the menu: polish and Italian sausage sandwiches, nachos, Italian beef, tamales, chips, chili and soups (seasonally, I think). They do NOT have a fryer, so no fries, pizza puffs, mushrooms, etc. That's OK, they have awesome dogs and Jay's chips. My only gripe (and this is major, but I can't give them less than five stars) are their hours. They close at like 6:00, seriously. Most people can't even get off the train and over there by 6 if they have a job, so why even bother (either close at 3 like most lunch-only places, or stay open til at least 7 or 8). They're not open at all on Sundays (the silly hours apply to all remaining Boz's), so needless to say, it's almost impossible for a south suburban transplant on the north side to get there and enjoy.

Love the hot dogs from here. Got to love the fact that this places claim to fame is that its called Boz Hot Dogs but the sign has a large smiling circle face at the end of BOZ which leads you to believe the name is Bozo's, which is what we still call it today. They were later sued by the Bozo Circus TV show that airs on WGN TV in Chicago. Always a treat to get a dog here.
